このたび AaP/roidworksgallery では2年ぶりとなる松山しげきの個展『Algorithmic Discretion II』を開催いたします。

AaP/roidworksgallery is pleased to present its first solo exhibition in two years, featuring the works of Shigeki Matsuyama: “Algorithmic Discretion II.”

アルゴリズムによって選別され、提示される情報に囲まれて生きる現代において、本質的な価値とは何なのでしょうか。
松山はこれまで、「インターネットやSNSの普及が現代人の心理や生活に与えた影響」を主なテーマの一つとして制作を続けてきました。

本展では、その視点を社会だけでなく、自身のこれまでの作品制作のプロセスへと向け、作品がどのような判断や価値基準によって生み出されてきたのかを問い直す展示となります。

本展で松山は、代表作「Portrait of Dazzle」の制作初期に不採用となったアイデアをもとに再考し、ジェネレーティブAIを用いた新シリーズを発表いたします。

進化した「Portrait of Dazzle」をお楽しみいただくとともに、その制作プロセスの背後にある現代社会の構造や価値観についても、思いを巡らせていただければ幸いです。

In a modern era where we are surrounded by information curated and presented by algorithms, what is the essence of true value?
Matsuyama has consistently explored the impact of the internet and social media on the human psyche and daily life.

In this exhibition, he shifts his gaze from society at large to his own creative process, re-examining the judgments and standards that bring his work to life.

For this show, Matsuyama revisits discarded ideas from the early stages of his signature “Portrait of Dazzle” series, presenting a new body of work created using generative AI.

We invite you to experience the evolution of “Portrait of Dazzle” and reflect on the social structures and values hidden behind the creative process.
