このたびAaP/roidworksgalleryでは、辰巳菜穂による2年ぶりの個展『Unformed 名のない世界』を開催いたします。

AaP/roidworksgallery is pleased to announce “Unformed – A World Without Names-,” the first solo exhibition in two years by Nao Tatsumi.

これまで辰巳菜穂は、Googleストリートビューで出会った風景に、異なる時間や場所の記憶を重ね合わせるように描いてきました。絶えず更新されやがて消えゆくデジタルの痕跡、その一瞬の輝きをキャンバスへ留めることを試みてきたのです。

しかし、ある事をきっかけに彼女の関心は
言語や意味によって世界が成立する以前の「未分化な知覚」へと向かいます。

本展で発表される新作群は、風景の手前に置かれた「ガラス」の透過や屈折によって、あえて歪められた像を描いています。それは単なる風景の再現ではなく、言葉や意味によって世界が固定される以前の、未分化で不確かな知覚の揺らぎそのものに触れようとする試みです。

「科学は世界の美を理解しようとする。しかし、その『理解』が成立する直前には、名のない世界が広がっている。」

作家がそう語るように、今回の展示はこれまでの「過去や記憶」へのアプローチから、今まさに世界が立ち現れてくる「現在、そして未来」の気配へと視線を転じています。

「ガラスによる歪み」という物理的な介在によって揺らいだ像は、鑑賞者を言葉になる以前の感覚へと立ち返らせ、心地よい混乱と問いを投げかけてくれるでしょう。

Until now, Nao Tatsumi has painted landscapes encountered on Google Street View, layering them with memories of different times and places. Her work has been an attempt to capture the fleeting brilliance of digital traces－elements that are constantly updated and destined to vanish－and preserve them on canvas.
However, a certain turning point has shifted her focus toward “undifferentiated perception”－the state of the world before it is given structure through language or meaning.
The new collection presented in this exhibition depicts images intentionally distorted through the transparency and refraction of “glass” placed before the scenery. Rather than a mere reproduction of a landscape, this is an attempt to touch the very fluctuation of uncertain perception before the world is fixed by words.

As the artist states: “Science seeks to understand the beauty of the world. Yet, just before that ‘understanding’ is established, a nameless world unfolds.”

Moving away from her previous approach to “past and memory,” this exhibition turns its gaze toward the signs of the “present and future” as the world begins to manifest. 

We invite you to experience this new frontier－a world without names－that challenges our senses and invites a profound state of “pleasant confusion.”
