このたびロイドワークスギャラリーでは星山耕太郎 個展『COMEDY 』PART1・PART2を開催致します。 roidworksgallery is pleased to announce Kotaro Hoshiyama’s exhibition: COMEDY (PART1 & PART2).

一つの画面を漫画のようにコマ割りし、それぞれのコマを自身が持つ異なる描法でコラージュし、人間の中にある多様性を可視化するという星山耕太郎にしかできない表現は、これまでも多くの鑑賞者に驚きと共感を与えてきました。

それらは個人の欲望と現代社会的風景を重ねようとする試みとして描かれていましたが、今展では単にその欲望を吐き出すのではなく、それらをCOMEDY（＝人間喜劇）として表現しています。 日々相次ぐ社会的事件や実存的問題が突きつけらている日常を喜劇として捉える視点は、星山芸術の新たな魅力を引き出してくれます。

Psychological collage, a painting style invented by Kotaro Hoshiyama, is one that comprises panels laid out in a single painting to represent individualistic aspects of human beings. His paintings have earned accolades from many spectators worldwide ever since he began to showcase them using this style. His paintings are an attempt to represent the intersecting point between his desires and the wider social context. However, this show captures Hoshiyama’s desires as a form of comical expression. His perspective on social issues and existential tribulations depicted humorously, allows us to interpret those issues through novel means.
