このたびAaP/roidworksgalleryでは国際的活躍で注目される戸田悠理の個展『YUM and NEW WORLD』を開催致します。

AaP/roidworksgallery is pleased to announce “YUM and NEW WORLD”, a solo exhibition by Yusuke Toda, an artist gaining international recognition for his outstanding work.

戸田悠理は、幼少期の感受性を映し出す存在「YUM」を通じて、自己と世界の関係を探り続けてきました。モノクロームの平面に生まれたYUMはやがて色彩をまとい、国内外の展示を経て多くの鑑賞者と出会うことでその在り方を変化させてきました。YUMは単なるキャラクターでもなく、また作家自身の投影にとどまるものでもありません。アナログとデジタル、過去と現在、個と社会といった対立項を媒介しながら、表現の場を更新していく存在として歩んできました。

roidworksgalleryでは3度目となる本個展では、YUMの世界がキャンバスの内側から広がり、現実の空間へと静かに浸透していくような感覚を体験していただけます。それは絵画の外縁が拡張される瞬間であると同時に、私たちがアートとどのように向き合うのかを問いかける機会となるでしょう。

Yusuke Toda has continued to explore the relationship between self and world through “YUM,” a presence that reflects the sensibilities of childhood. Born on a monochrome plane, YUM gradually took on color, and through encounters with many viewers at exhibitions in Japan and abroad, its very way of being has evolved. YUM is neither a simple character nor merely a projection of the artist herself. Mediating such polarities as analog and digital, past and present, and the individual and society, it has continued to renew the field of expression.

In this solo exhibition－Toda’s third at roidworksgallery－visitors can experience the sense of YUM’s world expanding from within the canvas and quietly permeating real space. It is both a moment when the outer edge of painting is extended and an opportunity to reflect on how we engage with art.
